Sailing with Liberty makes guests feel right at home

sailing-with-libertyIn December of 2005, Captain Ryan and his wife Mumfy set sail on their 44-foot Bruce Roberts ketch from the Chesapeake Bay and headed towards the Virgin Islands. When they arrived, they were awestruck by the beauty of the islands and the consistently favorable winds. After cruising down island to Trinidad as well as through the Bahamas and up and down the east coast to New England, they can say with confidence that sailing the Virgin Islands is the most incredible sailing they’ve experienced.
The couple found themselves taking frequent day sails to St. John and the surrounding cays and private islands to go snorkeling, have lunch aboard, and enjoy a pleasant sail back to their home port in Red Hook, St. Thomas. Therefore, it made sense to include visitors on their sailing trips so that they, too, could enjoy this tropical paradise from the water. “I love meeting new people, so every day we take people sailing, it’s like having new friends over for lunch, and snorkeling. It’s so much fun!” says First Mate Mumfy. “I’m the more adventurous one of this team, and I love to cook and bake new things. I also love exploring all the undersea wildlife. We have two little girls, so when I’m not sailing on a charter, I’m helping them learn about our amazing natural world here. Ryan’s been a sailor all his life, so his sailing skills and safety-mindedness are always right on target. He watches the weather religiously, too.”
Sail with Liberty has a reputation for making guests feel right at home. Captain Ryan has an easy sense of humor, and he always seems to find something in common with those he meets. Mumfy’s gourmet home cooking is always a welcome treat on charters, and you won’t find a more refreshing “Pum Runch” on the island. Welcome aboard!
