Jordan Stevens and Shane Kuhlmann, have lived on St. Croix for three years from Austin, Texas, and opened The Courtyard in September, 2016. With ten years of culinary experience and a lifelong passion for cooking ‘southern cuisine,’ they began a personal journey to a healthier and raw-eating diet a number of years ago and are thrilled to bring that concept to the residents and visitors on St. Croix.
On the menu are organic cold press juices and smoothies (with fresh, local coconut milk), as well as soups, salads, quiche, baked goods and sandwiches, all locally-sourced! They’re proud to be offering RAW options on St. Croix and creating healthy alternatives of some of those not-so-healthy favorites! Also find specialty coffees, brewed using Virgin Islands Coffee Roasters coffee, wines by the glass or bottle, and beers.
Cold press juices are their specialty, though, with unique combinations of fruits, vegetables and herbs. Two of the most-ordered juices are the ‘Spicy Devil’–a combination of cucumber, jalapeno, apple and ginger–or the ‘Grapefruit Sunshine’ with grapefruit, orange, carrot and basil. Switch them out by adding in some healthy protein or powders.
Located in the Kalima Center directly across the street from Government House on King Street, The Courtyard has a fun, hip vibe in a beautiful atrium setting. Sit and enjoy a fresh juice, listen to the fountain, and soak up some wifi! Their goal is to make fitness fun for everyone!
Walk up, take out, and drive-thru service are all offered but call ahead for the last two. Open Monday – Saturday, 8 am – 6 pm. Their Event Page on Facebook lists art, wine, yoga, and food workshops most weekends.
