The Danish Cemetery is another historic site found in Charlotte Amalie.
The cemetery is located west of Lionel Roberts Stadium, at the bottom of Mafolie Hill. The well-kept grounds are split into four quadrants and surrounded by tall mahogany trees and a stone wall. While it is fenced in and gated, the cemetery is open for visitors. Sightseers will find graves dating back to the territory’s centuries of Danish rule. The cemetery is overseen and maintained by the Royal Danish Consulate of St. Thomas. It is the only one of its kind on St. Thomas, while St. Croix has two Danish cemeteries in the towns of Christiansted and Frederiksted.
