Ocean Surfari specializes in offshore and inshore fishing around the Virgin Islands. Offshore fishing provides a thrill of a lifetime catching blue marlin, wahoo, mahi-mahi, and tuna. Seas are generally three to five feet offshore, and trolling can take some time, but when the big one is brought to the boat the thrill is worth the ride and wait. Big rods and reels are a must for these fish as they have caught blue marlin up to 800 pounds on our vessels.
Inshore fishing is ideal for families and children or when ocean conditions offshore are not ideal. On an inshore trip they primarily live bait and cut bait fish for a variety of species such as snapper, grouper, jacks, king mackerel, barracuda, sharks and occasionally tuna or mahi. Seas are generally 1 to 2 feet and fishing action is generally nonstop. Lighter spinning tackle is utilized for inshore fishing primarily as fish tend to be smaller than the offshore species. Ocean Surfari vessels have landed king mackerel over 60 pounds and sharks over 300 pounds so there are big ones to battle inshore also.
Ocean Surfari’s world class captains grew up fishing and are passionate about sharing their love of the sport with guests of all ages and experience.
Captain Marc Blackburn, owner of Ocean Surfari with his wife Wendy, loves sharing his passion for fishing. “My fondest memories as a child all involve fishing with my Mom and Dad. Many Captains and fish are etched into my mind from those amazing experiences. I still remember looking up at the captain on the fly bridge 100 miles out in the Gulf of Mexico when I was 12. I told my Dad that one day I wanted to do that for a living. It took a few years, but I was able to make that dream a reality. Let us be a part of your memories by joining us for the fishing adventure of a lifetime.”
