Combining both their love of the water with their passion for music and the VI, Emily Weston and RC Sanders, bring a new venue to the islands- Lyric Sails, a floating performing arts venue and charter company located in Frederiksted!
Emily Weston, a 12-year resident of St Croix, a marine biologist, dive instructor and underwater photographer, originally moved to St. Croix to work on the Leatherback Sea Turtle Project with the NPS. RC Sanders, a 6-year resident, has lived on both St Thomas and St. Croix, is a musician and songwriter, crewed on sailing catamarans for 4 years and is now a licensed captain. Emily developed her love of ocean through diving, RC through sailing.
Together they purchased ‘Jolly Mon’ in 2015-a 63-ft, custom-built sailing catamaran, pictured here. She is a US coastguard-inspected vessel and can hold 3 crew and 49 passengers.
St Croix Sunset and Moonlight Sails are offered on Friday and Saturday nights, featuring live music by local and visiting musicians, an onboard bar, and hors d’oeuvres catered by various restaurants and caterers. The live music schedule can be found on their website.
Yoga and meditation sails on Friday mornings are led by certified yoga instructors and energy healers. Look for Lyric Sails at special events like the Christiansted Couples Jump Up! in February. Each sail is bookable in advance online. Custom or Private Charters in St. Thomas and the BVI are also available.
