Since 1988, St. Croix has hosted one of the world’ great endurance events, the Captain Morgan Ironman 70.3 Triathlon. From a choppy 1.2-mile swim in Christiansted harbor, racers are on to the challenging bike leg, a 56-mile circumnavigation of the island including the treacherous “Beast.” Bikers finally morph into runners and head out on a 13.1-mile run with the Finish back at the Fort. Celebrating St. Croix’s historical culture of spirits, food, music and arts, attend the 1st Annual St. Croix Rum Festival, “Flavor of Rum,” at Fort Frederik, Frederiksted, 3 pm – 1 am.
